Today Congressman Stutzman issued this statement after H.R. 2 -- Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act, passed the House by a vote of 392-37.

"Today's legislation represents an important first step in long-term entitlement reform. This act protects our seniors and the doctors who care for them, by providing stability to the Medicare program. Most importantly it ends the costly, cyclical patches to an outdated and broken repayment formula. Doctors and hospitals have suffered the consequences of the "doc fix" for too long and I am glad the House has acted in a bipartisan way to replace SGR. While not perfect, today's bill is an example of a long term solution and I'm hopeful we can begin to reform other entitlement programs in the near future."
